How to Make Cold Brew at Home
What goes better with hot weather than cold brew? That’s a trick question, the answer is nothing. Well we’re here to help you make it right in your kitchen and that way you can have it whenever you want!
There are a few different ways to make cold brew. Some of which are using things you probably already have in your kitchen.
The first way is with the Toddy Cold Brew System, specifically for making cold brew. We just so happen to have an entire brew guide about it.
The Toddy coffee maker extracts the coffee bean’s true delicious flavor and eliminates much of the acidity, producing a bold, super smooth coffee that can be served one cup at a time.
First, let’s start with the coffee. Grind 12oz of whole bean coffee to a coarse, kosher salt like consistency.
Most importantly, insert the stopper into the outside bottom of the container. Next, dampen the filter and insert it into the inside bottom of the brewing container. Add 1 cup of water and 6 ounces of ground coffee.
Slowly pour 3 more cups of water over the grounds, in a circular motion. Then, add the remaining 6 ounces of ground coffee.
Wait 5 minutes and then slowly add the last 3 cups of water, ensuring all the grounds are saturated. Do not stir or you may risk clogging the filter.
Steep for about 24 hours to create a smooth rich flavor. When ready, remove the stopper and let your coffee concentrate flow into the glass decanter.
Enjoy for up to 2 weeks!
The next way to make cold brew at home couldn’t be more simple. Using a 1 quart mason jar, combine 3 ounces of, again coarsely ground coffee with 3 cups of water.
Steep the mixture overnight or for 24 hours. Easily strain the mixture using paper coffee filters and that’s it! Add your milk of choice, and now you have the perfect summer drink!
